DENIM · FALL STYLE
One shirt. Three everyday combinations.
A denim shirt outfit for men can start with a simple choice: wear it buttoned as the main shirt, or open over a tee as a light layer. Keep the trousers uncomplicated and let the wash supply the texture. For LouMark, the appeal is a useful middle ground between a plain cotton shirt and a more substantial jacket.

What the wider fashion conversation gets right
Editorialist’s September 2026 denim-shirt edit includes blue, indigo, white and black options, with both oversized and closer-fitting shapes. Its selection shows variety within the category; it does not establish that one wash suits every wardrobe or that menswear demand is rising.
Our interpretation is practical: begin with one shirt you can repeat in different combinations. You do not need a full themed outfit. A faded finish and a visible seam can provide enough character while the rest of the look stays quiet.
Our October 9 check of Google Trends for denim shirt in the UK found related rising searches about what men can wear with one. That supports a practical outfit guide, rather than a claim that denim is suddenly new. Search interest is relative, and individual rising queries do not measure sales.
1. Light blue with dark trousers
Try the light-blue option with charcoal chinos or dark straight-leg trousers. Button the shirt, leave the collar comfortable and keep the footwear simple. The contrast makes each garment easy to read without requiring an exact color match.
Check the hem before deciding whether to tuck. A hem that sits comfortably around the hips can work loose; one that overwhelms the trousers may look tidier tucked. Raise your arms and sit down before settling on the arrangement.
2. Black denim over a graphic tee
Wear the black option open over a light or muted graphic tee, with olive or stone trousers. Allow the opening to frame one part of the print. Several competing graphics can make an otherwise simple outfit feel busy.
Choose the tee first, then check the shirt over it. Sleeves should move without tugging across the upper back. For more on selecting the base layer, see our fall graphic-tee styling guide.

3. Dark blue with contrasting jeans
Double denim is easier to assemble when the shirt and jeans differ clearly in tone. Try dark blue above a lighter pair, or reverse the balance. Keep the belt and shoes understated so the contrast remains the main idea.
This is an outfit suggestion, not a requirement to buy matching pieces. Test it with jeans you own. If the combination feels too uniform, change the trousers instead of adding more accessories.
What the fabric means for you
LouMark’s listing specifies washed denim containing 95% cotton and 5% elastane, with a regular fit. The elastane component can contribute stretch, but the percentage alone does not tell you how far the finished shirt stretches or how it recovers. Leave enough room at the shoulders and chest rather than relying on stretch to compensate for a tight size.
For layering, compare the chest and shoulder measurements with a shirt you already enjoy wearing over a tee. A cotton-rich blend and a faded finish describe different things: fiber content tells you what the fabric contains, while the wash contributes to its appearance. Follow the garment’s care label when washing.
LouMark’s choice for these combinations
The Casual Long Sleeve Denim Shirt combines a washed finish, button front and asymmetrical seam. Choose black for a neutral layered outfit, or compare the two blue options against your existing trousers.
